One Thing or Another: Found At Sea
By Mark McNease
It’s always One Thing or Another… a lighthearted look at aging, life, and the absurdities of it all.
Bodies of water hold a fascination for many people, as well as providing an indescribable comfort. I grew up in an Indiana town with two rivers, and I live just a mile from the magnificent Delaware flowing slowly between New Jersey and Pennsylvania. For me there has always been something about the movement of these vast waterways that felt like home, as if I really am a fish out of water longing to jump back in where I belong and swim away.

The Weekly Readlines July 30
BIG CUP: THE WEEK’S BIG STORIES
This week brought us summer’s biggest blockbuster with the January 6 Commission hearings, starring House Democrats and two Republicans risking it all for the truth, Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger. Reached for comment, Blue Lives Matter spokesman Tuffy McTuffguy said, “Fake news! If those is cops, I’m da Pope.”
It was a rainbow spectacular at the Tokyo Olympics as more out athletes than ever showed that elite athletes can be gay athletes too, including gold medal diving heartthrob Tom Daley. Meanwhile, Pink offered to pay the fine leveled against the Norwegian women’s handball team for wearing shorts instead of peekaboo bikini bottoms.
The Delta virus continued to make its lethal, indifferent way through the unvaccinated population, which has apparently taken the ‘live free or die’ motto to heart. Will last year’s hottest mask fashions be on this year’s runway? Let’s hope not. Vaxports, get your vaxports here! I’ve got mine.

Review: Frida Kahlo’s ‘Pose’ Exhibition at Brandeis University’s Rose Art Museum, by Sue Katz
This article is reprinted with permission from Sue Katz: Consenting Adult
By Sue Katz
I’m on a mission to check out the many small museums in this area of Massachusetts. This rainy Saturday was the perfect timing for my first visit to the Rose Art Museum. Their modern and contemporary permanent collection is extraordinary – every piece of the highest quality. Stunners from one wall to another, with women and people of color now heavily represented.

What’s Cooking: Easy Summer Zucchini Bread
What’s Cooking is a feature at LGBTSr highlighting easy, delicious recipes. Have a recipe to share? Email us at: recipes @ lgbtsr.com
Our vegetable garden is in near-full bloom again, with cucumbers and zucchini popping up every day. It will be awhile longer for the tomatoes, but there’s no reason to wait for delicious cucumber salad (coming soon!) and easy-peasy zucchini bread and muffins.
Here’s a recipe I’ve used every summer since we started the garden. It’s easy and delicious, and it looks like you worked harder than you did. I’m not much for heavy lifting in the kitchen – the cleanup is enough labor for me. These are my favorite kinds of recipes, and you can do them year after year (or month after month, if it suits you!).

From the Podcast Archives: Ginny Brennan, Producing Director for Music Mountain Theatre, Joins the Podcast
Now that life is returning to its new kind of normal we’re able to enjoy going to the theater again, and Lambertville boasts one of the best local theaters in the country. Last year I had the pleasure of interviewing Ginny Brennan, Producing Director and one of the founders of Music Mountain Theatre. After a year-plus of staying away due to Covid restrictions we’ve been delighted to go back, having recently seen the theater’s productions of Murder at Cheltenham Manor (a fun whodunit perfectly suited for this mystery writer!), and Head Over Heels, featuring music from 80s icons The Go-Gos.
MUSIC MOUNTAIN THEATRE opened its doors on October 6, 2017 with its inaugural production of Phantom. In addition to our Mainstage productions, we offer performances for Young Audiences throughout the year. Our theatre school offers classes encompassing a range of disciplines across acting, musical theatre, and dance.
It is the mission of MUSIC MOUNTAIN THEATRE to enrich, educate, and entertain our community through the study, performance, and appreciation of the arts.

BIG CUP: THE WEEK’S TOP STORIES
In addition to the casualties from Coronavirus, U.S. drug overdose deaths spiked 30 percent in 2020.
Tennessee drove full speed toward the crazy cliff, surrendering to anti-vax extremists, and we mean ALL VACCINES. Has there been a better time to invest in iron lungs and measles merch? Preventable childhood diseases, come on down!
President “Legitimate Joe” Biden gave a speech about the survival of democracy, while the last one admitted at the second annual CPAC hatefest this year that he just makes stuff up. Bad poll? It’s fake!
